May 21st, 2016
Melissa (Missy) Ann Davies Melissa (Missy) Ann Davies went to be with the Lord April 9, 2016 after almost 2 1/2 years of a courageous fight with cancer. Melissa was born January 31, 1962 in Dodge City, Kansas to David A. and Mary Lynne Dennis. She was 54 years old. Melissa attended several schools as the family moved around the country. She was chosen outstanding student of her Middle School in the 8th grade, Captain of her cheer team and chosen most spirited person in her High School of nearly 2000 students in Lincolnshire, Illinois. She had her dorm room selected and set up, ready to attend Purdue University until her family moved to Oregon. Melissa enrolled at the University of Oregon and pledged the Alpha Phi Sorority. She served as a post graduate advisor and also on the corporate board of the TAU chapter. It was at the EMU that she met her future husband, Tucker and they married June 25, 1988. They had 3 children, Trevor, Allison and Ryan. Melissa devoted so much of her time coaching and loving her children. After graduating from college, Melissa taught at Awbrey Park Elementary School, after 1 year she taught at Edison Elementary School from 1997 to 1998. She then moved back to Awbrey Park Elementary School and taught the 3rd and 5th grades for many years. She then proudly served as the Title One Coordinator. Melissa was known for not just educating her students and staff but truly loving them. Teaching was such a huge and important part of her life. Melissa was the most loving, caring, giving and supportive wife ever invented. With that support she became the first lady of the Oregon Club of Eugene/Springfield, the Eugene Active 20-30 Club, Active 20-30 of the United States and Canada, and the Delta Rotary Club of Eugene. An avid Duck fan, Melissa loved going to Duck games. She also enjoyed concerts and traveling, a perfect fit for her husband. She was blessed to have had the opportunity to travel to most states and internationally, including Costa Rica, Jamaica, Columbia, The Dominican Republic, Mexico, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, China and the Philippines. They spent their honeymoon in Victoria, Canada. She was a lifetime member of the University of Oregon Alumni Association and a member of Norkenzie Christian Church. Melissa loved to dance and we know she still is today. She is survived by her husband, 2 sons, Trevor and Ryan, of Eugene, Oregon, a daughter Allison of Las Vegas, Nevada, her parents of Lincoln, California, a brother Jeff of Hawthorne Woods, Illinois and 2 sisters Jennifer and Amy of San Diego, California. She also has 13 nieces and nephews. Melissa's Celebration of Life will be held at Awbrey Park Elementary School, Saturday May 21, 2016 at 2:30 pm.
