Melissa Kay Harmon Ling
March 16th, 1981 - March 25th, 2020
On March 25, 2020 Melissa Harmon Ling lost her life in a tragic car accident. She was just 39 years old. This is her story… On March 16, 1981 the youngest child to Ron and Colleen Harmon was born at University Hospital in Denver, Colorado. Melissa spent her childhood in the Loveland, Colorado area where she spent her time playing with her older brothers, Eric and Ryan and met many lifelong friends. With her love of the elderly and her extraordinary ability to relate with them, Melissa became a Certified Nursing Assistant and spent several years working at the Sierra Vista Health Care Center in Loveland. Melissa would meet the love of her life, Corey while Corey was working for Melissa’s Uncle Del in 2003 and the story continued. Melissa and Corey were a bit unconventional in their sequence of events, but it all seemed to work out. Melissa loved children and on June 17th, 2011, Brenden Michael Ling came into this world and was the light of Melissa’s life. Christmas Eve 2011, Corey and Melissa had a private ceremony where they wed and on August 27, 2012, a celebration was held at the mountain home of Corey’s parents, Mike and Pam. Melissa loved animals. She and Corey became involved in pointing dog field trials and raised two successful winners, Jazz, a Brittany Spaniel and Luke, an English Setter. Their ribbons would adorn the walls, but to Melissa they were just her special dogs that loved her, and she loved them back. Jazz and Luke would pass on, and Ben, another English Setter and Maggie, a rescue would fill that empty spot in Melissa’s heart. Melissa was a successful entrepreneur and started her Feather Duster Home Services business. Her cleaning services business provided her with the flexibility to always be there for Brenden and Corey and still contribute financially to the family. Having Melissa at family dinners always meant a clean kitchen afterwards—we loved it! Family get togethers, the Denver Broncos, camping trips, barbeques and bonfires at the house, riding ATVs, watersports, horseback riding, flowers and the color purple were some of Melissa’s favorite things but, most of all, Melissa loved being a mom and a wife. Decorating the house for holidays, planning birthday parties, helping with homework, reading bedtime stories, fixing favorite meals were just a small part of the wonderful mother Melissa was to Brenden and wife to Corey. This was her happy place. Melissa was a beautiful woman that was loved, is missed and will always be cherished. She was an amazing wife, mom, daughter, sister, aunt, daughter-in-law, sister-in law and friend with a smile that would light up a room. If someone was sick, Melissa was there with a meal. If you needed someone to take care of your animals or house, Melissa was there helping. Need some cheer? Flowers would arrive. Melissa’s heart was huge-- so caring, loving and unselfish. Loved ones that have cleared the path for Melissa are her grandparents, Maxine and Leonard Collins, Ritta and Marvin Harmon, uncles Delbert Ewing, Jimmy Dean Harmon, Larry Harmon, and aunts Beverly Walker Harmon and Linda King. Loved ones that will miss Melissa until they meet again are her husband and son, Corey and Brenden Ling, her parents, Ron and Colleen Harmon, her brother, Eric Harmon, wife Jennie and children, Gracyn and Carter, her brother Ryan Harmon and children Ashley, Caleb, Tyler, Damien and Kyree, her aunt Patty Daniels and husband Paul, aunts Lori Hull and Karen Rogers, uncles Steve Harmon, Gary Harmon and Kelly Collins and wife Pam, mother and father-in-law, Pam and Mike Ling, brothers-in-law, Shane Ling and son Noah and Jesse Ling and his wife Heather. Also, numerous cousins and special friends, Marsha Beisner, Amy Elliott, Patricia Manke, Nancy McCord and Andrea Sipes. Inurnment will be held at Loveland Burial Park on Friday, July 31, 2020 at 11:30am with a Celebration of Life at 2310 Breckenridge Ct. in Berthoud. Due to COVID-19, the family kindly request that all attendees wear a face covering.
