Melvin James Elliott, age 94, passed away on February 24, 2022 in Willows, California. He was born in Salem, Oregon on February 19, 1928 to Forrest and Clara Elliott. His family moved to California in 1930. He lived in Sutter for 70 years. Melvin enlisted in the US Army on December 8, 1950. He is a veteran of the Korean War where he served as a truck driver. He was discharged on October 15, 1952. In 1956 he joined Operating Engineers Union Local #3. He was a heavy equipment operator on many major projects including the Oroville Dam, Bullards Bar, and the Warm Springs Project. He retired from Local #3 in 1986. Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Sharon Elliott, children Doug Elliott of Sutter, Brian Elliott of Olivehurst, Steve Elliott (Mil) of Yuba City, and Michelle Chapman (Greg) of Yuba City, and siblings Anise Aidnik of Watsonville, Myrna Elliott of Olivehurst, Loren Elliott (Barbara) of Orangevale, and Larry Elliott (Shirley) of Susanville. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Forrest Elliott, his mother Clara Elliott, and his brother Kenny Elliott. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 12 noon to 5 pm at the Native Daughters of the Golden West Hall located at 7393 Lyon Street in Sutter, California.
