Melvin John Robertson
August 3rd, 1934 - December 4th, 2020
Melvin John Robertson, 86, passed away on December 4, 2020 in Hollister. He was born on August 3, 1934 in Gilroy, California. Mel graduated from Salinas High School in 1953 where he was a celebrated local and state track star. He then moved on to service in the United States Marine Corp. He was a part owner of the Alisal Frozen Food Locker where he learned his trade as a meat cutter. Upon leaving there, he worked for Safeway Stores Inc. until his retirement in 1998. Melvin is survived by his daughters, Karen Robertson, Kelly (Sal) Vargas and Stacy Robertson, son, David Robertson, grandsons, Joshua, Jacob (Natalie), John and Daniel, great-grandson, Matthew Vargas and great-granddaughter MacKenzie Vargas along with several nieces, nephews and other loving family. He is preceded in death by his wife Elnora Barrett Robertson and their daughter, Sue Ann Robertson and son, Melvin John Robertson III. He was an amazing father and much-loved grandfather and will be missed by all. There will be a private family burial at Garden of Memories in Salinas.

Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
