Melvin L. Rulison Sr.
June 7th, 1930 - September 11th, 2023
Melvin L. Rulison, Sr; age 93, of Gloversville, died Monday, September 11, 2023, at his home. He was born June 7, 1930, in Broadalbin, the son of Floyd and Ethel (Ellsworth) Rulison, Sr. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was later employed as a machine operator by F. Rulison and Sons for 28 years and as a motor route driver for the Leader Herald for 57 years until he retired in 2017. He loved sports, especially the New York Yankees and Giants. He was of Catholic faith. Mel is survived by four children, Christine Chichester, Mark Rulison (Amy), Elizabeth Darling (Matt) and Lori Yerdon; two siblings, Robert Rulison and Betty Dalleo; as well as twelve grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Karen L. (Robbins) Rulison; two sons, Randy Rulison Sr. and Melvin Rulison, Jr; siblings, Maurice Rulison, Raymond Rulison, Arlene Skaine, Phyllis Mills, Clark Ellsworth, Floyd Rulison, Jr; and Warren Rulison. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 am to 12 noon on Thursday, September 14th at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Homes, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville, where a Prayer Service will follow at 12 noon with the Rev. Matthew Wetsel officiating. Interment will follow at Ferndale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Stratton Veteran's Administration Medical Center, 113 Holland Ave; Albany, NY 12208-3410.
