Melvin Young
December 26th, 1962 - January 25th, 2020
Melvin Young went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 25, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. Melvin was born on December 26, 1962 in Pensacola, Florida to the late Willie and Johnnie Mae Young. He was the twelfth child. He joined the United States Marine Corp in October 1981 and was honorably discharged in October of 1987. He is survived by his children and grandchildren, his brother Roosevelt Boone (Diane) from Chicago, his brother David Boone (Shirley) from Delaware, his sister Mozzetta Boone of Las Vegas, his sister Rose Brown (Gerald) from California and his sister Beady Fugate (Fred) from Alabama, his 3 Aunts, Regina Young from Florida, Aunt Vera Roland from Florida, Aunt Sandra Knight (Vaughn) from Pensacola, FL., and 1 Uncle, Willie Roland from Birmingham, AL. Melvin also leaves behind a host of loving nieces and nephews. Melvin attended Lighthouse Full Gospel Lighthouse church in Seaside, Ca. for the past 20 years where he fully enjoyed being the head usher. He was heavily involved in Street ministry, the church brotherhood and the homeless ministry. Melvin was a faithful servant! He loved The Lord with all of his heart. Whatever he could do to help others, Melvin was found doing it. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do if you asked him. Melvin will be greatly missed by many including his Lighthouse church family. The Celebration of Life and Home Going will be on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Lighthouse Full Gospel Church, 1153 Hamilton Avenue, Seaside, California at 11:00 a.m. Melvin will be placed to rest at Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Road, Pensacola, Florida with full military honors on Friday, February 7, 2020 under the direction of Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 New Warrington Road, Pensacola, FL. 32506.

Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
