Meriah Kai Campbell-Taber

May 8, 1980 – March 29, 2021 Native of Santa Cruz A private family service is planned for Meriah Campbell Taber who passed away unexpectedly of natural causes in Capitola, California. Born in Santa Cruz, she became an enthusiastic sailor at the young age of eight. Meriah was home schooled in her early years which allowed her to go on some exciting adventures on the family’s sailboat. As a young girl, she sailed with her family from Santa Cruz to Mexico. The following year Meriah sailed from Cabo San Lucas to Hilo, Hawaii where the family lived for a time. Upon the family’s return to Santa Cruz, Meriah finished junior high. Following graduation from Loma Prieta High School, she obtained her AS degree at Cabrillo College. Meriah enjoyed competing in youth sports, such as horse vaulting, soccer and softball. Later, as an adult, Meriah gained a passion for ocean fishing. Many weekends she could be found fishing with friends on Monterey Bay. Meriah was an active member of the local Elk’s Chapter. She dedicated many hours to needle-cleanup with TakeBackSantaCruz. In the winter she participated in the Polar Plunge. Meriah was a proud and adoring mother to her two children. She leaves behind her heart-broken family and many dear friends. She will forever be remembered as a dedicated mother, raising her two children here, and providing them with loving support. She is survived by her children, Chloe and Zephyr Jones; mother, Siouxee Campbell of Santa Cruz; father, Don Taber with Anne Taber of Ben Lomond; brother, Jesse Campbell-Taber, close friend, Brian Johnson A memorial contribution in Meriah’s honor can be made to the Santa Cruz SPCA A private committal will take place at Felton District Cemetery.
