Mery Mostajo

Mery Mostajo, 69, of Beaverton, died peacefully on January 20th, 2014 at Legacy Hopewell House Hospice in Portland. Mery was diagnosed in 2012 with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) and died of complications following a successful bone marrow transplant at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. Mery Bacarreza was born on March 29th, 1944 in Apolo, Bolivia to Casimiro and Hortencia Bacarreza. In 1967, she married Daniel Mostajo in La Paz. In 1968, she and Daniel moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota to be near her sister and other friends. There, she gave birth to a daughter, Siboney in 1971, and Nathaniel in 1972. Mery was very proud of her career as an inspector for several years at Medtronic, a medical device company in Minneapolis, MN. Mery and Daniel loved traveling, and hosting dinners and Latin dancing parties at their house with members from inside and outside the Latin community. They were also very involved in the Bolivian Association of Minnesota. Mery loved to dance and was always was so positive, even during times of not feeling well. Mery leaves behind a daughter, Siboney (Derek) Hines of West Linn, son, Nathaniel of Bellevue, WA, grandchildren Raina 13, Steven 13, Malia 11, Logan 9, and Isabella 8, and sister Dory (Gerald) Borcheid of Plymouth, MN , and special friend, Dale Pierce of Beaverton. She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 25th at Southlake Foursquare Church at 1555 SW Borland Rd, West Linn.
