Michael Richard Anderson
March 9th, 1953 - January 22nd, 2019
Michael Richard Anderson Michael Richard Anderson was born March 9, 1953 in Spokane, WA and passed away January 22, 2019 in University Place, WA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Richard and Mae Elizabeth Anderson. He leaves behind his wife Laura of 33 years. 3 daughters: Valerie Anderson, Shanna Rademacher, Jody Abella (Gerry). 7 grandchildren. Sisters: Patricia, Linda (Joe), Cindy (Dan), Jeanne (Jeff), and Okhi (Larry). Brothers: Mark, Marvin and Johnnie. Several nieces and nephews as well as numerous friends and respected colleagues. Michael devoted his life to helping others. He started his selfless journey serving in the United States Air Force from October 1971 and being stationed in Thailand. Upon his return from overseas, he continued serving his country until he retired from the Air Force Reserve and civil service in 2003, while also extending that selflessness into his personal life. He volunteered his time and talents to the Muscular Dystrophy Association by converting vans for wheelchair bound people. He would help friends and neighbors with household projects, small and large. Michael embodied the Air Force core value of “service before self” up to his very last breath, his innate need to serve others before himself is what he lived for. He was always helping whoever he could. He’s never met a stranger and made people feel instantly welcomed. He was a proud husband, veteran, father, grandfather and brother. He will forever be missed.
