I'd like to convey my deepest sympathy for all of Michael's family. I was lucky enough to get to know Michael as one of his healthcare providers. I always got a 'kick' out of how he would fill out our follow up questionnaire at his office visits, writing all over the page "as before," when describing his symptoms! With Michael, he would only 'occasionally' have any pertinent medical issues to discuss with me, but rather we would turn the visit into a 'bs session' talking about his love of all things 'motorized.' He would relate stories (assumed to be true) of all his 'fix-up' jobs, motorcycle escapades, etc.!! Of course, his son Damien would work his way into our visits as well. He kept Michael 'busy.' I will miss his sense of humor and storytelling.

I think it was in late 1976. I was a senior at Middleton High School and a student aid for 5th and 6th grade band. I remember Michael and his mom coming into the band room with a new trumpet. His mom asked if Michael could join the band, but he had no experience. I worked with Michael one on one teaching him music and how to play. In less than 2 weeks, he caught up to the rest of the students. It wasn't long before he was one of the best musicians in the class. I was very proud of his dedication and commitment. I don't remember any of the other kids in that class, but I'll never forget Michael.
