Michael “Mickey” Joseph Black, 74, passed away in North Port, FL on December 18, 2023. He was born on May 17, 1949, in Philadelphia, PA to Robert and Mary (Brown) Black. He joined the Navy in 1967-1971. After the Navy, he worked as a firefighter for The Philadelphia Fire Dept. He married his wife Margaret Kiefer in 1973. Michael went back to school at Holy Family University and graduated with a Master’s degree in Education. He worked as a teacher in the Philadelphia School District. Michael and his wife relocated to North Port, FL for retirement. Michael enjoyed spending time with family, traveling the world, outdoors, and football. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Michael is predeceased by both parents. He is survived by his wife Margaret (Marge), son Michael, daughter Danielle and grandchildren Jeremy, Evelyn, and Madelyn, Siblings Robert, MaryJane, Nancy, and Marcella. A graveside service will be held at 11AM on Monday January 8, 2023, at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.
