Michael John Burch

Michael John Burch died on April 4th, 2023 in his hometown, Walensburg, Colorado. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 18th, 1953. Mike was an amazing surfer since he was 12 years old. He later went on to surf in many different places around the world. He grew up playing baseball on the streets in Michigan as a child and continued playing in schools and city leagues after moving to Southern California at the age of 11 with his family. He continued living in California most of his life. There he became a cop in the Prisons in Northern California. He eventually became Lieutenant and even after retirement he wore his badge on his jacket. He had three beautiful daughters. Mike took pride in all he did, his surfing, his career, his traveling, his children, and his niece and nephews of Tracy Burch Davis, and his lifetime friendships with his three best friends. He is a fun loving man of many hats. Not only was he a lifetime surfer, but a real Cowboy with horses and ranches along the way. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Harry Burch; his mother, Kathleen Burch; and by his brother, Corey Burch. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Christian DeBord, husband to Mike's daughter, Michelle DeBord. Mike was survived by his three daughters, Shannon Kwong, Michelle DeBord, and Diana Kathleen Hill; his Sister, Tracy Davis, her Husband Ron Davis, and their three kids Tony, Ryan, and Sara. He also is survived by his three lifelong best friends and partners, Frank Triggs, Mike Hansen, and Jesse Simpson; and his grandkids, Sam Kwong, Bailey Debord, Addison DeBord, Jordan Burch, Lillianne Brooks, Gunnar Hill, Baron Hill, And Ember Parker.
