Born on October 30, 1937, in Lansing, Michigan, Mike was the son of the late Russell and Varian (Hirdning) Cardy. Mike married Margaret on March 27, 1982 and she predeceased him on February 16, 2014.
Mike attended Michigan State University and later to Devry Tech, where he earned his associate's degree. This academic achievement paved the way for a distinguished 32-year career as a Computer Engineer at IBM, where Mike's expertise and innovation were highly valued.
Mike was a man of many interests. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and skeet shooter, finding solace and joy in the tranquility of nature. Bowling was another pastime that Mike enjoyed, often sharing this hobby with friends and family. His commitment to community service shone brightly through his many years as a volunteer fireman, where he eventually served as Chief of the Union Vale Fire Company. Perhaps the most telling of Mike's affections was his love for his dog, Annie. Their bond was a testament to his capacity for love and companionship, and Annie was a cherished member of his family.
