Michael Gerard Crowley
April 22nd, 1960 - September 12th, 2014
Michael Gerard Crowley Sr., age 54, passed away September 12, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, children Caitlin and Michael Jr., mother Alice Gooch, his 7 siblings - Kathleen, Thomas, Robert, Susan, Steven, Patricia, and Christine, along with 23 nieces and nephews, and his dog Sophie. Mike was a loving husband of 27 years to Cheryl, admired father to Caitlin and Michael, a wonderful son, great brother, and kind friend to all. Often referred to as "Big Mike" because of his size, it was his heart that was even bigger. Mike was thoughtful, helpful, and very giving of his time. He was a caring person, constantly thinking of others before himself and eager to help others any chance he got. His calm presence was always reassuring in any situation. He was a phenomenal role model for his children and those who knew him. Mike loved spending time with his family. He was a very involved father, ever present in the lives and activities of Caitlin and Mike Jr. Born in Brooklyn, New York and having lived in St. Petersburg since 1973 he was an avid fisherman and enjoyed sharing this hobby with his son. Mike was very intelligent, determined, and creative which together helped him to succeed in not only his career, but also in his passions of cooking, and learning. Mike tirelessly worked to expand his education. He graduated from Northeast High School and St. Petersburg College. He later earned his MCSE from the University of Phoenix. Beyond his degrees, he enjoyed taking more courses in the culinary arts, computer technology, and management. Mike held a successful career as a Systems Engineer III for Kforce from which he received many awards during his 16 years on the job. He was a very intelligent man, yet his creativity really shined in the kitchen. Mike was an awesome chef. Cooking was his true passion, everyone loved and appreciated his culinary skills and couldn't wait to eat whatever Mike prepared. You could always rely on Mike, trust him with anything, and place yourself in his big hands. Mike was well respected, with a life well spent and many happy times. He will be greatly missed by all.
