October 7th, 1941 - December 3rd, 2017
Michael D. Ertel (76) of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Lincoln, IL, passed away surrounded by family on December 3, 2017. Michael was born October 7, 1941 to Dean and Sara (Lindner) Ertel in Springdale, Ohio. He married Phyllis Voiers on September 6, 1961. They had a loving, supportive life together for 56 years. They moved their daughters, Kelly (Tim) Pleasant and Kristin (Tom) Splain to Lincoln, IL in 1968, so that Michael could teach business and accounting at Lincoln College for over 30 years. Michael had a positive influence on the many students and people he came in contact with and was a member of Lincoln Rotary and Trinity Episcopal Church. Michael was preceded in death by his father Dean Ertel and brother, Greg Ertel. His brother Glenn and loving mother Sara will miss him dearly. He has several grandchildren, Karlie, Darcie, Tad, Corey, Jennifer, Brittany, and Trace, who have fond memories of annual vacations at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. He also has several great-grandchildren, Marco, Rylan, Rowan, Gia, and Emmy, who spent last summer as a family visiting and creating new memories in Florida. According to his wishes, there will be a small family service in Ohio at a later date.
