Michael David Eyre
January 7th, 1941 - August 28th, 2017
EYRE, Michael David, 76, of Tampa, passed away Monday, August 28, 2017. He was born in Chillicothe, OH on January 7, 1941. He served 20 years in the United States Army; traveled and lived all over the world. He retired in 1981 as Master Sergeant Michael David Eyre. In 1984, after 5 moves, he finally settled in FL and nothing could make him move again. He loved the warm weather and Florida beaches. His favorite outdoor activities were running, hiking and gardening. He had a “green thumb” and was able to make anything grow, even in Florida’s rocky, sandy soil. Above all he loved being with his loved ones. He was the life of a party and had the gift of hospitality. Along with being a great cook, Mike would captivate any listener with his animated stories, that always ended with his signature maniacal laugh. At the end of his life Mike became passionate about “really” knowing Jesus and reading the Bible. As evidenced by his testimony and he could be seen fervently studying the Bible at the kitchen table, pen and paper in hand, whenever someone would visit. He was excited to be with Jesus in Heaven but wanted to get through “just one more book in the Bible”. Mike started in the New Testament, Gospel of Matthew, reading and studying until his death, which left him in the Letter from the Apostle Paul, Romans 2. Michael David Eyre was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; two children, Sheri and Lynette; a grandson, Danny; and his brother, Clayton “CG”. He is survived by three children, Kissandra L. Collins and her husband, Scott, Sherry K. Clay and Michael D. Eyre Jr.; three grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren; and one sister, Vicki Novak and her husband Steve. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017; 2PM at Northwest Community Church (14913 Hutchison Road - Tampa, FL 33625). Later, Mike will be buried at his final resting place in Arlington National Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northwest Community Church, 14913 Hutchison Road, Tampa, FL 33625.
