Michael Lawrence Farmer
May 1st, 1945 - February 26th, 2022
Michael Lawrence Farmer, 76 years young, of Kernersville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 26, 2022. Born May 1, 1945, in Cincinnati, OH to Thelma (Conrad) Farmer and George Earnest Farmer. He was the oldest of five sons. Mike worked for General Motors for 36 years as an Employee Assistance Representative. He married Robin L. Austin, who was already blessed with two children, on March 10, 1979. To this union Mike adopted Robin's children and together they became foster parents and adopted three more children. He loved being with his family and was an amazing storyteller that captivated his listeners. His smile and laugh would light up a room. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brothers; Jimmy and Wayne, also Wayne's former wife, Tammy and their daughter, Michelle. He is survived by his wife, Robin; his son, Dennis Farmer and his wife, Chris of Metamora, MI; four daughters, Paulette Vrable and her husband, Dean of Papillion, NE, Lacressa Farmer of Whitehall, MI, Melissa Farmer of King, NC, and Alicia Farmer of Madison, WI; fourteen grandchildren, Gavin, Michael, Alyssa, Jesse, Jenna, Rachel, Mikayla, Clifford, Kia, Titiana, Daniella, Dillon, Brooklynn, and Kali; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Gospel Light Baptist Church, 890 Walkertown Guthrie Road, Winston Salem on Thursday, March 3rd from 4 to 5 p.m. A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at 5 p.m. at the church with Bro. Matt Morrison and Bro. Frank Shumate officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens’ Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html).
