Michael “Mike” Karam, 62, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 17th surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born in Midwest City, OK on April 8,1962. Throughout his childhood he, his siblings and their father (Frederick G Karam, Jr, USAF, who preceded him in death) lived a military life.

In middle Georgia following his graduation from Warner Robins High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He received special recognition for Marksmanship, Good Conduct, and a Meritorious Unit Commendation among other ribbons.

After his time in the Coast Guard, he began a career in military housing maintenance at Charleston Air Force Base and later the Naval Weapons Station, Charleston. As a Maintenance Supervisor, Mike took the leadership role seriously. He wore his strong work ethic on his sleeve. He was always fair to his subordinates – he had been in their shoes. Working his way up from a Technician to Management during his 30+ years, specializing in Electrical and HVAC.

If you couldn’t seem to find Mike, he was likely down by the pond on his Prayer Bench. He loved everything about the pond, and always felt it was a special place. To talk to God... To throw out a line... To fill birdfeeders... A little piece of heaven on earth.

Mike’s memory will be cherished forever by his wife and best friend of 42 years, Sharon L Karam. Devoted father of two; son, Tyler M. Karam; daughter, Ashley T. Karam Elston (Oliver). Amazing ‘Pops’ to 3 grandchildren; Brew, Coral and Humble Elston.

Mike is also survived by his siblings; Jacqueline “Jackie” Karam Belson, Frederick Karam III, and Jayne Karam Bishop.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 29th from 10:00am – 11:00am at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services, 7475 Peppermill Pkwy, N. Charleston, SC.

Private graveside service will be Wednesday, October 30th from 2:00pm – 2:30pm, at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC.
