Michael Jay Kennedy

Michael Jay Kennedy Mike, 55, passed away August 26, 2012 in Olympia, Wash. He was born February 8, 1957 to Gordon Martin and Ramona Tate Kennedy Jr. in San Francisco, Calif. He was a graduate of Bellingham High School’s class of 1975. He went on to Western Washington University and graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Business. He married Cindy Rae Love on September 3, 1977, and they raised two daughters, Erin and Megan. Professionally, Mike was a store manager and district manager for the Haggen Corporation, and most recently worked for the Washington State Department of Revenue in Tumwater, Wash. Mike’s family was the center of his life. He was the best husband and dad ever. When Erin’s daughter Kali was born, he became a wonderful papa too. When Megan’s fiancé brought a daughter into the family, Rayne became his granddaughter as well. Mike and Cindy loved to entertain and created many happy memories with family and friends. Mike was a gourmet cook and wine connoisseur, loved music, and was an avid sports fan, especially of the Mariners and Seahawks. He had a great personality and a belly laugh that could crack anyone up. Mike is survived by his wife, Cindy Rae Kennedy; daughters, Erin Leigh Silva (Michael) and daughter, Kali, and Megan Anne Kennedy (Tyrone Hayes and daughter, Rayne); mother, Ramona; brother, Mark Owen Kennedy (Jill); numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; father- and mother-in-law, Daniel and Carole Love; and longtime friend and brother-in-law, Kevin Love. His father, Gordon, preceded him in death. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or favorite local animal charity.
