Michael D. Lawson

Michael D. Lawson, age 62, of Church Hill, TN, passed away at his home surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. He was born November 9, 1955 in Keokee, VA and has lived in Church Hill for the past 29 years. Owner and operator of Lawson Trucking, he also worked as a mechanic and auto body repairman for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvain and Bobbie Henley; and brother, Marti Henley. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Dinah Lawson; children, Michael Lawson Jr. of Port Clinton, OH, Cheri Andrews (Ryan) of Port Clinton, OH, Larry Barnett Jr. (Mandy) of Fall Branch, TN, Daniel Barnett of Church Hill, TN and Michelle Lawson of Knoxville, TN; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sisters, Marsha Skinner (Mark) of Port Clinton, OH, and Myra Burnette of Sandusky, OH; and brother, Merle Henley (Beth) of Sevierville, TN. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. Funeral services will begin at 7:00 pm with Pastor Ralph Owens officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Holmes Cemetery in Keokee, VA. All those wishing to attend the burial are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to offset funeral expenses.
