Michael Payne Lee, 59, of Syracuse, departed this life Saturday August 4, 2012 at Community general Hospital after a brief and sudden illness. Michael Lee was born in Conway, AR and lived in Syracuse most of his life. He attended Syracuse City Schools where he obtained his high school diploma. He worked in construction. He was an avid chess player, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family and enjoyed sports. He loved reading and studying the Quran whereas he joined the Nation of Islam where he found peace with and chose his Muslim name Qwai Shabazz Ali. He was a loving father, brother, uncle and friend that will truly be missed. He enjoyed laughing, cracking jokes. He had a certain charisma and personality that made one love him and value his love and friendship. Mr. Michael P. Lee ( Quai Shabazz Ali) is predeceased by his loving parents Ralph & Goldie Lee, one brother Bobby Joe Lee, one sister Leslie Jean Lee and son Taylon D. Williams. He is survived by his children Vanessa Scott, Michael Boatwright, of Syracuse daughters Sonia Crawley of Richmond VA, Latonya and Tamika of Lima, OH, Ieysha of Albany NY and Angel of Syracuse NY. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Two sisters Carrie "Teenie" Clanton and Ruby Nell Lee, one brother Ralph Lee and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins aunts and uncles. Calling hours are from 12 noon- 2pm Friday, at A. Dewitt Memorial Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse. Services will follow at 2pm. The family requests flowers, or donations to be made to the family.
