Obituary "Well I see trees of green and red roses too. I'll watch them bloom for me and you. And I think to myself, what a wonderful world." Michael McBride, 71, of Colorado Springs, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 30th surrounded by his family. Michael was born on December 19th, 1945 to Anne Speth and John McBride in Los Angeles, California. He spent two years at the University of Southern California and finished his degree in Physics in 1967 at the University of California, Irvine. To his dying day, he remained a true USC Trojans fan and was often found watching reruns of past football games. Michael permanently moved to Colorado Springs in 1983 and married Judy on St. Patricks Day in 1990. Shannon was born later that year, and Katie followed in 1992. He would often be found refereeing swim meets or sibling arguments at home. After retiring from SAIC as a Systems Engineer, Michaels home away from home was Patty Jewett Golf Course or the bowling alley where he participated in his "old mans" bowling league. He also picked up a love for photography and captured several special moments on his African safari and European river cruise vacations. Michael is infamous for his long picture slideshows, corny jokes and embarrassing dance moves, which always got eye rolls and will now be greatly missed. Michael is survived by his wife, Judy, his two daughters, Katie and Shannon, and his soon to be son-in-law, Tyler. He was an exceptional husband and father so kind, caring and supportive. While we wish he was here longer, we will always remember him with a smile and happy spirit and will live each day to make him proud. A celebration brunch honoring Michaels life will be held at Patty Jewett Golf Course on Sunday, August 13th from 10:30 am 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Michaels memory to The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, CO or The Wounded Warrior Project.
