Michael E. McClain
January 26th, 1951 - February 18th, 2015
"South Hadley - Michael E. McClain, 64, of South Hadley, passed away on Feb. 18, 2015. He was the husband of his soul mate, his heart, his everything, Christine (Majeran) McClain, to whom he had been married since June 23, 1990. He was born on Jan. 26, 1951, in Westfield, son of the late Joseph and Rita (Peloquin) McClain and lived in South Hadley for over 24 years. He was a van driver for Hulmes Transportation Services for many years until his illness forced his retirement. Mike was a happy, easy going man, who made the day of everyone he came in contact with a little brighter, just for having known him. He loved children, especially helping and guiding them to be the best they could be. He loved the outdoors and working outside, especially fishing and planting, and genuinely appreciated the beauty in nature. Mike's favorite sayings were, "One day at a time," and "Duct Tape fixes everything." He was involved with Relay for Life. In addition to the woman he adored, his wife Christine, he is survived by his beloved children, Ashley, Cindy, Samantha, Katrina, Joe, Jessica, and Charissa; siblings, Danny, Joe, Bob, Leonard, Helen, Linda, Earl, Katherine, and Loretta; his father and mother in law, John and Juanita Majeran; many, many cherished grandchildren; one great grandchild; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his Hulmes Family, who has shown the family tremendous support during this difficult time. He was predeceased by siblings Richie, Viola, Esther, Rita, and Eileen. In lieu of a visitation or formal service, Mike's wish was to have his beloved family and many, many friends gather together at a later date to share fond memories, stories, and smiles, and to remember him with laughter and joy, rather than sadness. The family will plan such an event and share the date, so that everyone may remember with fondness this wonderful man who touched the lives of everyone he knew."
