Michael Lee McNulty

Michael Lee McNulty, 63, of Loveland, Colorado passed away unexpectedly, at his home October 29, 2018. Michael was born April 29, 1955 in Denver, Colorado to Carol Sue Briels (Harbaugh) and Ernest Harbaugh "Dad”. Michaels biological father was Glen McNulty. The Family moved to Loveland, in 1971. Michael "Mike” attended school in Loveland and upon completing school, proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. In Mikes younger years he worked as a bouncer, janitor, steel worker, autobody /detailer, among various other odd jobs, before becoming disabled. Michael never married or had children, he said he preferred it that way, I’m too difficult to live with, just ask me, hah! His longtime girlfriend Barbs passing, was exceptionally hard on him, and he really didn’t have the heart to find another.  Mike was an avid music and movie lover. He amassed quiet the cassette and VHS collection.  His refusal to make the cable company rich, was at the root of his collection growth. Yes, you can still buy VCR’s. He enjoyed decorating his apartment with wolf prints, Star Wars and Harley memorabilia, eagle statues and nut crackers, his own little museum. He rearranged his apartment often, and it’s estimated that over the 24 years that he resided there, he must have changed it, at least 1000 times. Odd for one who didn’t adjust well to change. He knew where everything was, for it had its place. At Mike’s passing, he’d resided at his apt. complex longer than any other current tenant. So understandably, there is a spot out at the picnic table, were he could often be found "Mikes spot”. It’s adorned with an ashtray that was just installed by staff, especially for Mike "thanks”. Mike wasn’t big on crowds, but he enjoyed visiting and swapping stories amongst his dearest friends, as well as strangers. He loved animals of all kinds but had a soft spot for dogs.  Mikes, longtime friend, Jill instilled in Mike a love for birds. He acquired a few and quickly learned they can make quite the mess. Mike enjoyed talking to them, but they had to go.   When asked about Michael, and how one would describe him, repeatedly these were the words heard:  loving, likeable, easy going, helpful, respectful, well mannered, thoughtful, kind and caring. He had a huge heart. He was very appreciative and grateful. He took the time to acknowledge people and make them feel important. He had a funny sense of humor. He liked quoting foghorn-leghorn. He was protective over those he cared about, especially family. He was generous and would give you the shirt of his back. He was a good cook and loved to eat. It was over home cooked meals and cups of coffee, that he and little John, became best friends, like brothers. Glenetta’s cooking, warmed Mikes sole, and he enjoyed her "larger than army size rations,” "now that’s a meal”. People thought Mike ate PB&J’ sandwiches because they were cheap, and it would make his money go further, when actually, it was his favorite sandwich.    It’s been said, Mike could teach you how to survive on 2 dollars.  When shopping, he could be heard reciting words, to one of his favorite CCR songs adding his own little twist, to the words "I wasn’t born silver spoon in hand.I ain’t no "millionaires” Son! Thanks’ for being everyone’s big brother, especially ours. It’s we that are the Fortunate ones!                                                        Michael is preceded in death by his mother, Carol and "dad” Ernest. His biological father Glen.  He is survived by his sisters Kathy Kuhlman (Craig) and Peggy Harbaugh (Brent), a brother Daniel Harbaugh, nieces Desiree and Faith Turner, all of Loveland and niece Andria Smith of Fort Collins. Aunts, Judy Land and Jennifer Briels, numerous cousins and dear friends, all of whom Mike truly treasured. Cremation has been completed. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held in Denver, Colorado at Fort Logan National Cemetery on December 4, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. Staging Area B.
