Michael "Mike" Frank Miller

May 17th, 1951 - June 3rd, 2024

Michael Frank Miller, passed away peacefully on Monday June 3, 2024, at Edgewood Spring Creek Memory Care in Boise.  Mike had been a resident at Spring Creek for the last 3 years, where he received loving care for his dementia from the entire staff there.

Mike was born in Boise, the second child to George and Josephine Miller.  Mike attended Sacred Heart Elementary and graduated from Bishop Kelly High School in 1969. Mike excelled at BK where he played football and was a State Champion Wrestler. He attended one very short year at Boise State and then “retired” his school career to become self-employed where he spent the next 48 plus years in the concrete and construction business.  Mike had a long and successful career pouring concrete.  Many builders in the valley used Mike’s services and could count on him for superior work.

In 1976 he met and married Nancy Beatty. Nancy had a son, Steven Johnson, whom Mike took on as his own.  Mike and Nancy’s home was one where many friends could always be found.  It was quite often they took in various friends for periods of time to stay with them.  They loved traveling to Mexico and riding Harleys.  Mike, Nancy and Steve lived in Southeast Boise for the next 26 years until Nancy’s death in 2002.

Mike loved playing cards, drinking beer and barbequing Oysters. Mike and Steve continued on as roommates, work mates and best pals until 2020, when Mike was officially diagnosed with early onset dementia.

Mike’s last years were not his best.  His overall health along with his dementia was a struggle.  Despite all this, he managed to make all the ladies at Edgewood swoon over him, including some residents.   We often would visit to find him holding hands with the different ladies.

Mike is survived by his stepson, Steve Johnson; sisters: Cathie Olson and Kellie (A.J.) Allen as well as his brother, Paul (Deb) Miller.  Although Mike had no other children of his own, he had special relationships with all his nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass services will be held on Friday June 14th at Sacred Heart Parish, 811 S. Latah St. Boise at 11am. Prior to the mass from 10am -10:45am there will be a viewing for those who would like to see Mike before his eventual cremation and interment at Morris Hill Cemetery.  There will be a luncheon following at the church for those attending to mingle and share memories of Mike.  Remembrances may be left for the family at www.AccentFuneral.com

We ask that you remember Mike for his unique “70’s Hippy” vibe and all the fun he always brought to the party.

Accent Funeral Home

Accent Funeral Home

A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve.

Mike is happily with my sister Nancy. Great guy who helped me so many times. One of the strongest men I ever knew. He was a tackle on the 30 year Bishop Kelly football team. RIP Bro. 😢

Mike was always easy to talk with, and I’ll never forget the day we poured concrete in my basement when the high for the day was 20 degrees. Everyday I walk on it, I’m reminded of that day. Many great memories of family get togethers, and playing games on Sundays. You are gong to be missed Mike, but now your struggles are over.
