Memorial

Michael Mark Mulder, 70, of Sterling, CO passed away October 20, 2012 in Lakewood, CO. He was born March 5, 1942 in Yuma, CO to Mark and Elda (Bash) Mulder. Michael grew up and attended school in Yuma graduating from Yuma High School in 1960. He later attended CSU for a degree in animal science and nutrition. Michael had several jobs throughout his life. He was a cattle feeder, tire salesman and a truck driver. Mike had a passion and a desire to play music and was blessed with a "God given” talent on the trombone. In his younger years Mike played with the Bob Murphy band in Yuma and the surrounding area and later with bands in Reno and Lake Tahoe including Harry James and his Orchestra. Another indulgence was the game of golf that led to more than one rift with his father in the early days. Mark would say "allowing that the time spent on the golf course could most likely be better spent on the tractor”. Ultimately, Michael played a respectable round of golf when he found the time. And as fate would have it, Michael introduced his dad to the game in the ensuing years. On July 15, 1971 he married Linda Bickel in Sterling, Colorado. Mike is survived by his son Mark and daughter-in-law, Stephanie of Aurora, CO; his son Mick of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Ryan, Keara and Ashlyn of Aurora, CO; a brother, Matthew and wife Cindy of Yuma; a sister, Cheryl Huskin of Cenntennial, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda and his parents. Michael was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. His family will remember him for his big smile, sense of humor and musical talents. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 26, 2012 at the Nazarene Church, 1600 Sidney Avenue, Sterling.
