Celebrating the Life of Michael Edward Mulligan

On March 12, 2024, Michael Edward Mulligan departed this world peacefully at his residence, leaving behind a legacy of love, adventure, and compassion.

Born to James and Constance Mulligan on April 4, 1939, in Homestead, Pennsylvania, Michael was the cherished younger sibling in a family of two boys. Despite a significant age difference, he and his brother forged a close bond that only grew stronger with time.

Michael's formative years were spent in Hammond, Indiana, where he attended Edison School before graduating from Hammond High School. His academic journey continued at Purdue University, laying the groundwork for a distinguished career.

Childhood summers brought treasured visits to Pittsburgh, where Michael's grandmother would indulge his passion for WWII lead toy soldiers. These seasons were also filled with adventures at Wolf Lake, a testament to his enduring love for the outdoors.

Michael's adventurous spirit led him to hunting expeditions across Colorado, Wyoming, Alaska, Montreal, and Kansas. In 2004, he found a piece of paradise in Bird City, Kansas, purchasing a ranch that became a beloved retreat for hunting trips with his sons and grandsons. His passion for fishing also took him to Saskatchewan, Canada, where he enjoyed 35 years of fishing excursions with friends and loved ones.

A sports enthusiast, Michael's allegiance lay with the Broncos and the Bears, though his true joy was found in coaching his daughters' softball teams and engaging in countless shopping trips with both of them.

Michael's professional life was marked by dedication and innovation, beginning in 1966 at Majestic Marketing and culminating in a storied 34-year tenure at Beverage Distributors Corporation, where he led the IT department until his retirement.

In 1990, Michael wed his soulmate, Marcia Schick, in Parker, Colorado. Their 34-year marriage was a testament to their unwavering love and partnership.

Retirement did not slow Michael down; he contributed significantly to his community as a board member of the Town of Parker and City of Parker Cemetery, as well as the President of the Parker Historical Society.

Michael's legacy is carried forward by his beloved wife, Marcia; his children, Shaun, Mike, Patrick, Kelly, Amy, and Meghan; his step-daughters, Mary, Suzanne, and Kara; and his cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren each of whom brought immense joy to his life.

A private memorial service will honor Michael's memory.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to St. Jude Children's Hospital, continuing his legacy of generosity and kindness.

With respect and love, we remember Michael Edward Mulligan, whose life touched so many.
