Michael S. O'Melia
September 23rd, 1945 - August 5th, 2015
Mike O'Melia, our loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle and Friend passed away in his hometown of NE Tacoma. After a very full and exciting 69 years of life, he passed away from complications of a double lung transplant. Born in Roanoke Rapids, NC to Emerson and Marjorie "GiGi", he is survived by his three sisters, Shirley, Jean, and Diane and he also grew up with an older brother Emerson "Scrap" O'Melia, already in heaven waiting for Dad. After serving four years in the Navy, Mike married Janice in 1970 and they raised their three daughters: Erin, Tara, and Kelly in Browns Point, Tacoma, WA. Mike was a loving, devout Catholic. He demonstrated deep affection for his family and friends. He loved Arizona where he and Jan would snow bird, he enjoyed traveling, NASCAR, fly fishing and squeezed all the joy he could from life. Much of that joy came from his grand children: Kelsey, Michael, Dillon, Austin, Owen, and Luna. Mike left behind three sons in law: Marcus, Scott and Nick to care for his girls. Goodbye Pa/Dad. We will love and miss you for all the remaining days of our lives. Please join us in celebrating Michael's life on August 15, 2015. Vigil service at 10am followed by mass at 11am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 3025 8th Ave South Federal Way WA. A big celebration of his life will be held at the home he built following the service. Please contact the family for the address.
