It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Charles Philo, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this life on September 9, 2024, at the age of 74, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born on June 15, 1950, in Toledo, Ohio, Mike was a caring and passionate individual whose love for family and life was evident in everything he did.Mike was the son of Robert and Myrtle Philo, and his step-father, Harold Schwind. He is survived by his devoted wife, Christi Philo, with whom he celebrated 53 wonderful years of marriage. He leaves behind his son, Jeffrey Philo, who was the pride of his life, along with his daughter-in-law, Kimberly, and grandson, Alex.Additionally, Mike is survived by his sister, Pam Boney, of Perrysburg, OH, as well as a close-knit circle of lifelong friends who enriched his life. He will also be deeply missed by his loyal four-legged friend, Trip.Mike graduated from Eastwood High School in 1968 and continued his education at the Ohio State University before completing his engineering degree at the University of Central Florida, where he also graduated with a MBA. Mike enjoyed a fulfilling career at Florida Power and Light as a major accounts manager, where he was known for his dedication and ability to forge lasting relationships.Above all, Mike was an incredible family man, taking pride in his role as a husband, father, and grandfather, particularly in witnessing Alex’s growth and accomplishments. He had many passions, including spending quality time with family, traveling the country in their RV, embarking on cruises with Christi, fishing, golfing, coaching youth sports, and taking Trip on walks. As a dedicated UCF alumni and sports fan, he was a proud season ticket holder for both football and basketball. On his last cruise, he was honored to receive his 100 days at sea medal from Holland America Cruise Lines, a testament to his adventurous spirit. To celebrate Mike’s life and legacy, the family invites all who knew him to join them in a celebration of life event on February 8, 2025, in Melbourne, Florida. Together, we will share stories and memories of the joy he brought to our lives. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mike’s name to the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida, a cause that was close to his heart.
