Michael Joseph Reilley Sr, of Bluffton, SC passed away in peace surrounded by his family on Sunday March 29, 2020 at the age of 67 after a difficult battle with ALS and FTD in his final years. Mike was born in Providence Rhode Island on June 24, 1952 to Rosevelta Vera Galassi Reilley and Thomas David Reilley. He is the fifth born of eight children: Tom, David, Dennis, Patricia, Michaela, Mary and Susie. His family relocated to the Hilton Head area in 1970’s and 80’s and have been a beloved part of the Lowcountry community ever since. He will be greatly missed by his wife Marcia Mullon Reilley, his children Michael Jr., Marc and daughter-in-law Samantha Reilley with their daughter Stevie, his daughter Michele and son-in-law Bob Dewan with their three children Caleb, Maddie and Bethany, his siblings, along with their spouses, and all his beloved nieces and nephews. He is fondly remembered as “Uncle Mike” to many. Not only by family but friends that he treated as family too. Always quick to lend a helping hand Mike would volunteer at a moment’s notice. Whether for friends, family or a community event he loved anything that brought people together (most especially if it involved his favorite game, golf). He truly loved helping others and serving at his local church was something dear to his heart. Growing up with 7 siblings Mike always cooked for a large group. Known for his famous dishes like cheesy eggs, philly cheese steak and garlic egg noodles, his presence in the kitchen and in the community will be difficult to forget. A gathering will be arranged at a future date. “The family requests that memorial gifts be designated to ALS and Frontotemporal Dementia research at Mayo Clinic. Gifts can be mailed directly to Mayo Clinic, Department of Development, 200 First Street SW, Rochester, MN 55905 or made on line at philanthropy.mayoclinic.org .”
