October 27th, 1965 - March 8th, 2018
Michael L. Rivas, aged 51, of Chama, NM, passed at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque on March 8, 2018 at 11:20 am of an aneurysm. He was born October 27th, 1965, in Espanola, New Mexico, to the late Angie Rivas and George Chavez. He attended Escalante High School and Dulce High school. Michael worked for the Cumbres and Toltec Railroad and for Rio Arriba County. He was an active member of St Patrick's Church and served as usher when needed. During his time in Chama, Michael touched the lives of countless family members and friends. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed the basic things in life. Michael is survived by his three children, Xavanni, Genysis, and Rayanna. He is further survived by numerous uncles, aunts, other relatives, and many friends. A funeral will be held March 24th, at St Patrick's Church. Rosary will be recited at 11:00 am followed by the mass of Christian Burial at St Patrick's Church on Saturday. Burial will follow at the Chama Cemetery.
