Michael B. Schell, Sr.
January 8th, 1958 - April 4th, 2023
Michael B. Schell, Sr., 65, of Hagaman, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Albany Medical Center with his family by his side. Born in Amsterdam, NY on January 8, 1958 he was the son of the late Benedict “Ben” Schell and Helen Yurkon Schell. A lifelong city resident, Mike was a 1976 graduate of Bishop Scully High School. He later went on to attend and graduate from Hudson Valley Community College. Mike was employed as an electrician, working for IBEW Local 236 in Schenectady, NY for over 30 years before retiring in 2020. While his time here has passed, he will continue to live forever through the lessons he passed on to his loved ones. Mike’s sacrifices for those he cared for, tireless work ethic, and enduring love for his family will last forever in the hearts of all who knew him Mike was predeceased by his infant daughter Allison. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Lorraine “Lorrie” Wall Schell; his four children, Michael B. Schell, Jr. and his wife Kristen, David Schell, Joseph Schell and his wife Ashley, and Alexandra Schell and her partner Corey Tambasco; three grandchildren, Anna, Grace, and Logan; one sister, Diane Schell- Courtoies and her companion Art Yost; two sisters-in-law, Christine Chenes and her husband Paul, and Elizabeth Mohsinger; one brother-in-law, John Wall and his wife Mary Ann; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 10a.m. at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church 50-52 Cornell Street, Amsterdam with The Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis E.V. as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Casimir’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday, April 10, 2023 from 4p.m. until 7p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.
