Michael Robert Smylie

Michael Robert Smylie passed away April 2, 2022 in Ione, CA at the age of 70 years old. He was born in Pittsburg, CA on October 31, 1951, a son of Marion Olivia (Gava) and the late Anthony Smylie. Michael is survived by his wife Linda Smylie of Ione, CA; daughter, Amanda Theresa Smylie, of Ione, CA; son, Matthew James (Catherine) Smylie, of Ione, CA; sister, Nancy (Robert) Swensen, of Jackson, CA; brother, Ronald (Pamela) Smylie, of Ione, CA. He is also survived by grandchildren, Lucian, Alexander, Jacob, and Eliana. Mike will be dearly missed by family, friends, and former co-workers. The one thing you hear over and over was Mike was "one of a kind" a loving son still to his 92-year-old mother he dearly loved. The best husband any woman could ever have…. There's no doubt he was an awesome father to Matthew and Amanda, the love for their dad was so very sad and precious as they both tried to save their dad with CPR. He loved his grandchildren more than life itself…. he didn't just say he loved them he showed his love in so many ways, from playing chess with them, watching movies, and eating popcorn, just lying on the floor to play with them. He was a loving Father-in-law to Cassy, and she loved him like her own dad. Mike was a great friend; he would drop whatever he was doing to help if they needed it and believe me, he could fix anything. He was a valued employee at Calfire for a little over 20 years, he loved his job and it showed in his dedication. His death was sudden and tragic, and he will be dearly missed. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ione, CA. followed by a graveside service at Ione Catholic Cemetery.
