Michael "Mike" Francis Stately

Michael Francis “Mike” Stately of Olympia, 63, went on to his next great adventure on February 1, 2014, he walked on after complications following a severe heart attack. Mike was born to Patricia and Kenneth (Bosh) Stately in June of 1951. He was born in Red Lake, Minnesota, where he grew up with his grandmother, Obell Lussier. He met Frances Eve Hickman in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on October 9, 1969, and they have been together ever since. They’ve spent the last 45 years enjoying life in the great northwest, 35 of those years Michael spent protecting and caring for various communities as a part of law enforcement. They had seven kids and lived in a variety of different locations. They came to Washington State in 1992, where he worked as the Police Chief for the Shoalwater Bay Indian Tribe. He thoroughly enjoyed life in this Pacific Coast area. In 2010, he moved from Tokeland, Washington, to Olympia and began working for the Skokomish Tribe as an officer, as well as an interim police chief before retiring in 2013. Mike lived his life doing what he loved, and lived every day in the moment. A strong man, a great father, and an amazing friend a true legend, Mike is loved and respected by the many lives he touched and was a big part of the community he lived in. He is survived by his beloved wife, six kids, and 12 grandkids. A celebration of life service will be held at the Shoalwater Bay Tribal Center on February 12, 2014 between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Please bring a written or printed memory so it can be added to the family book, or you can mail it to P.O.
