Michael "Coach" Wainscott
October 7th, 1949 - February 17th, 2017
Lexington, KY Michael Coach Wainscott, 67, died February 17, 2017. He was born in Harlan County, Kentucky to the late Chester and Billie Miniard Wainscott. Mike graduated from Henry Clay High School in 1967, attended Stetson University in Florida, and graduated from the University of Kentucky where he played baseball for the Wildcats. Coach Wainscott taught school in Fayette County for 30 years and coached another 10 years after retiring. His coaching 40 years! Football- Tates Creek High School, Jessie Clark Middle School, Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. Track- Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. Girls Fast Pitch- Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. Coaching was his passion and his favorite pastime was being a grandfather! He is survived by his wife, Sherry Lynn (Courtney) Wainscott; son, Wes Wainscott; sister, Terri (Jerry) Fox; brother, Kelly (Beverly) Wainscott and granddaughter, Haleigh Roberts. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Whitney Roberts. Funeral Information There will be a visitation from 5-8PM, Monday, February, 20, 2017 at Southland Christian Church in Building B. Funeral service will follow on Tuesday at 10:30 AM. Brewster McLeod and Jon Weece will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Casketbearers will be Wes Wainscott, Kelly Wainscott, Jerry Fox, David Courtney, Jeff Bakos, Keegan Bakos, Brandon Fox and Kevin Wainscott. Honorary Casketbearers are Andy Roberts and Doug Walton.
