Michael A. Wasko
December 26th, 1944 - January 7th, 2008
" Michael A. Wasko, 63, of Flynt St., passed away January 7, 2008. Born on December 26, 1944 in Hartford, CT, son of the late Walter and Anna (Kovalchuk) Wasko. He grew up in Hartford and then moved to East Windsor, CT, where he attended East Windsor High School. Mike joined the Marines from 1963-1966, and was stationed in Chu Lai, Vietnam in 1966. He was a member of the Palmer Youth Basketball Association board of directors. He was a life member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, a member of the Marine Corps League, AMVets and the Disabled American Veterans. Before becoming disabled, Mike was a tool and die maker at various shops in the area. He and his wife Nancy also owned Tomes for the Sage Christian Bookstore for seven years in the late 1980's. He leaves his wife of 21 years Nancy Wasko of Palmer, five children Jennifer Wasko of Coventry, CT, Ivan Wasko of Ashford, CT, Kaitlyn, Pamela and Seth Wasko at home. He will also be missed by a sister Elaine Leitz and her son Jon Leitz of Warehouse Pt., CT and a grandson William Gunnar Wasko of Coventry, CT. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. A Committal Service will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mass. Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Michael A. Wasko Memorial Fund c/o Country Bank, Palmer, MA 01069 or to the Palmer Youth Basketball Assoc. P.O. Box 6, Thorndike, MA 01079."
