Live video feed will start at 1:00 PM on Saturday February 22nd, 2014 Michael Eugene “Mike” West, age 58, of Melbourne, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014, in his home, after a long battle with cancer. Mike served in the U.S. Navy for 21 years before working as a truck driver for 15 years. Mike was born on August 31, 1955 in Tallahassee, FL, and lived in several cities throughout the United States before settling in Brevard County in 1996. He loved being outdoors, enjoying activities including swimming, going to the beach, camping, hiking, and surfing. He loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit many places while in the Navy and while employed as a truck driver. Mike’s father and mother, William V. and Patricia A. West, precede him in death, as well as his brother Daryl D. West. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jennifer K. West; daughters, Shannon (Charlie) Layton of Milton, Kristin (Jim) Gibbons of Melbourne, and Kimberly (Matt) Favero of Palm Bay; grandchildren, Grace, Abigail, Kaylynn, Erick, Charlotte, Lucianna, Sailor, Reese, and James Michael who is due to arrive next month. Mike is also survived by his brothers; Bill West, Jr. of Jensen Beach, and Rick (Sylvana) West of Pensacola, sisters-in-law, Wendy (Warren), and Deborah (Steve), brother-in-law, Dick (Mary Sue), as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved and cared for dearly. Memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home in Viera, Florida. Visitation hours are from noon-1pm, with the service beginning at 1pm.
