Obituary Michael Woody passed away at the Poudre Valley Hospital on April 2, 2020 after suffering serious head injuries in a fall. Michael Woody was born February 23, 1966 in Champaign-Urbana, IL to A-Young and Robert Woody. The family moved to Tempe, Arizona where Michael started school, then to Fort Collins, where he attended Riffenburgh, Boltz, and Fort Collins High, from which he graduated in 1984. In high school, Michael became intensely interested in bicycle racing. He dedicated himself to training and joined a team sponsored by a local bicycle shop. He continued in cycling after high school for several years, participating in races all over the country, but ultimately he was forced to give up dreams of a racing career because of the aftereffects of a sports injury suffered in high school. Michael met Jody Lindskog in 1994. The birth of their daughter, Chandler, in December gave focus to Michael's college studies, and from that time he diligently pursued his studies, obtaining a B. S, in Food Science and Restaurant Management from CSU in 1997. Michael and Jody were married in 1997. For several years, Michael worked as a restaurant manager, but gave it up because he found it too destructive of family life. Michael and Jody were divorced in 2003. In 2004, Michael took a position as Technical Service Representative at Hach Chemical Co. in Loveland, a position he held until his death. Michael was an outgoing person with a winning smile who made friends readily and maintained strong friendships. He had a wonderful rapport with children, and they loved to be around him. He was a great dad, granddad, uncle, and friend. Michael loved animals. As a boy, he collected bullsnakes and raised pigeons. He and his brother David always had at least one cat. Later, he had two to four cats, two dogs, plus chickens and turkeys. Michael loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He always looked forward to the hunting season and hunting deer and elk in Colorado and Minnesota. Michael retained a lifelong love for cycling. Every summer, he was a devoted follower of the Tour de France. He also read voraciously, especially fantasy, and was a devotee of Tolkien and Harry Potter. Michael is survived by his daughter, Chandler Woody, and three grandchildren: Atticus Woody, Florence Danella, and Osiris Holbrook, all of Fort Collins; his brother, David Woody, his wife Sonya, and daughter Frances, of Eureka, CA; and his parents, A-Young and Robert Woody of Fort Collins. His loss leaves a great gap in all of their lives and those of his many friends. And from his daughter, Chandler: Michael Woody Remembered I shall miss his friendship more than I can say. My Dad was a very loving and caring Son, Brother, Uncle, Grandpa, and most of all Friend. Many who knew my Dad felt the happiness, joy and spontaneous adventures that he created. Whenever he went out, it was always a surprise and almost never the same thing. I will always see him as a hero, strong, brave, and full of integrity. I learned after his passing so many more people felt that way about my Dad. As we mourn the loss of Woody, let us remember the good times in nature, reading books, talking, cooking, renting movies, fishing, cycling, laughing with my Dad. Though we miss Michael with all our hearts, he will never be forgotten and will live on in stories shared by so many. When my dad told stories, everyone was entertained. Now he is a legend to be shared by those who loved him. The celebration of Michael Woody's life will be held during his favorite season of fall where all his friends and family can share memories together.
