Michela Colangelo

Mrs. Michela Colangelo, 89 years old of Arnold Avenue, passed away Saturday morning at St. Mary's Hospital where she had been a patient for the past two weeks. She was born in Monteleone, Provence of Foggia, Italy, a daughter of Nicola and Margarita Lalla. Michela came to Amsterdam in 1956 where she had since resided. She worked for over 30 years at Adirondack Knitting Co. in Amsterdam. Michela was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. Her church was a focal point of her life. Michela enjoyed cooking, baking and tending her garden. She was a loyal friend and kept an open door for her community. Michela married her husband Rocco Colangelo on September 23, 1946. He died August 7, 2009. She is survived by her son Paul Colangelo of Amsterdam; her daughters: Celeste Furchak of Ballston Lake, Nancy Joseph D'Ambrosio of Perth, Jane Michael Hughes of Amsterdam and Rocky Michael Parisi of Amsterdam; her sisters: Rita Cornacchia of Canada and Flora Cornacchia of Italy; her grandchildren, Nicholas Furchak, Armand, Anthony Jessica and Joey D'Ambrosio; Roxanne and Matthew Colangelo; David, Daniel and Michael Hughes; Michela, Maria Lucia and Joey Mosso; her great grandchildren: Gianna, Joseph, Rocco and Nancy D'Ambrosio; nieces, nephews and cousins. Michela was predeceased by a son Nicholas Colangelo in 2008. A Mass of Christian Burial will be con-celebrated by Fr. Medwid, Fr. DeMartinis and Fr. Polito at 11:30am Monday September 30, 2013 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ft. Johnson, NY. There will be no calling hours or visitation. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.
