Michele "Mickey" Aline Gruenwald

Michele Aline Gruenwald Michele "Mickey" Aline Gruenwald, 68, of Pioneer, CA, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014 surrounded by her family at her home in Pioneer. Michele was born in Van Nuys, CA on December 28, 1945, the second daughter of five children to Mary Theresa (O'Neill) and the late Rene Edmond Sasville. Mickey grew up in the Bay Area attending local schools and graduating from Napa High School in in 1963. Mickey met and married Fritz Gruenwald in Cupertino, Ca in 1966 and enjoyed 35 years together camping, fishing, and spending time with her two boys. During such an outing to camp up in the mountains the family discovered Pioneer, Ca purchased some land with the hopes of building their dream home. Pioneer became the place the family enjoyed camping and growing together until they were able to make it their home in 1985. Mickey cherished the years at home while raising her boys and eventually took a job as a Merchant Teller working for 30 years, currently making Bank of America in Jackson, Ca. her post. She was a loving mother to her children and grandchildren, camping, gardening, fishing, lobster night in Carson City and pulled an occasional slot machine, she had a great appreciation for her husbands homeland of Austria visiting there together a few times. Mickey is survived by sons Martin Gruenwald, of Pioneer, Ca; Eric, and his wife Rebecca Gruenwald, of Jackson, Ca; sister, Renee, and her husband Steve Honnoll, of Lincoln, Ca; brothers, Mark, and his wife Cindi Sasville, of Pollock Pines, Ca; Christopher, and his wife Kathy Sasville, of Discovery Bay, Ca; Eugene, and his wife Kimberly Sasville, of Grass Valley, Ca. She is also survived by Grandchildren Ashleigh, Jacob, Brittany, Peyton, Jeremy, Steven and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years Fritz in 2002 Friends are invited to attend a celebration of life at Daneri Mortuary Chapel, Jackson, CA, at 11 AM on Saturday, February 1st, with Father Larry Beck and Michael Johnson officiating.
