Michele Anne Coard Welk, 64, passed away on September 13, 2023, after a battle with cancer. She spent years caring for patients as a registered nurse and cared for many of our family members in their time of need. She was naturally an artist and created beautiful works of art from many different mediums, including music and painting. Still, her favorite was artisan yarn she found at craft festivals from far and wide. She found her peace in knitting. She collected ghost story books from all over the Unites States and loved to read them to her children and grandchildren. She was the keeper of family treasures. She would also keep our family's stories alive by sharing them with anyone listening. She loved to enjoy good food and bourbon. She always said she was a Maryland girl living in a Kentucky world; she loved being here with us but missed her fresh crabs and beer by the bay. She is survived by her son, Michael Welk of Frankfort; daughter, Rigel Ramsey (Dustin Franklin) of Frankfort, Brother, Michael Dean Coard (Janet), nieces and nephews, Samantha, William, and Luke of Woodbine, Maryland; grandchildren; Emily, Ethan, Evan, Beau, Ean, Elizabeth, Codey, Kyle, Emily, and Hunter, and one great grandchild, Nick. Michele is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert C. Coard Jr. and Mary Anne Heilmann Coard, and one daughter Michele Angel Welk. Please join us for her celebration of life on October 28, 2023, from 5pm-9pm at the Franklin Farm. The address is 4640 Bald Knob Road Frankfort KY, 40601. This is a casual event. In place of flowers or gifts, please consider donating to https://ukmarkey.org/ways-to-give , this donation will help other families like ours. Make sure that you put "In Honor of Michele Welk".
