Our beloved Mike entered the gates of Heavens peacefully on July 5, 2021, the one year anniversary of his baptism. He has now been reunited with his parents George E. and Evelyn Adkins, his sisters Linda Willis and Shirley Copas and his grandmother Vennie McClure. What a joyous reunion that had to be!!! He is survived by his brother Kenneth (Lee) Adkins, his sister Jimmie Kimbler and his aunt Marlene Davis. Mike is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Gary) Shell, Scottie (Jasmine) Adkins, Joanna (Donald) Phillips, Tracy (Jerome) Lockhart, Jane (Matt) Rogers, Jason and Josh Kimbler, Travis And Jr. Copas and a host of cousins, great nieces and nephews. Several years ago Mike started working at Mountain Connections with the founders Les and Linda Horner, who Mike considered a second father and mother. Mike loved working at Mountain Connections as all the people there became a part of his extended family. He became extremely close with Mikey Marcum who also worked at Mountain Connections and the two had just returned from a vacation in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He told the family over and over that he had never worked in a place where the people told you they loved you so much. He felt great joy, satisfaction and peace working at Mountain Connections. Mike loved going to the beach, gardening, growing flowers and riding motorcycles. He loved people and especially children. Mike was one of those people who just loved being around other people and he had a big heart to make others feel accepted and loved. He was an uncle and brother that you could count on. Even during his lengthy illness, Mike was excited about life, positive and loved life and people with his whole heart. He always wanted you to smile. Mike, you will be greatly missed by your family and all who knew you. There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Port City Church, 2601 Center Street, Kingsport Tennessee. The celebration will be from 5pm to 8pm. (refreshments served) Carter-Trent Funeral Home is serving the Adkins family.
