Rene passed away on April 23, 2022, and was united with her daughter Kristi in heaven. Rene was born June 7, 1949, in Carson City, Nevada, to Gerhard and Mildred Geise and grew up in South Lake Tahoe, where her parents ran Daum's Village Motel. When Rene was a teenager her family relocated to Mt. Shasta, where she graduated from Mt. Shasta High School. Rene pursued her education at Chico State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences in 1972. She went on to acquire her teaching credential in 1973. Rene began her career teaching at Alicia Intermediate School in Linda, CA, where she taught for 37 years. Rene loved challenging her students to enjoy English and had great pride in their success in life. Rene retired in 2011 and enjoyed traveling with her friends and family, quilting and collecting thimbles. Rene met the love of her life, Richard Geise, at Chico State University and they were married on May 25, 1974, in Sacramento, CA. Richard and Rene settled in Sutter County and started a family. They were parents to Kristi Geise and Tommy (Tricia) Geise. Richard and Rene were married for 47 years. Rene loved being a step-grandparent to Jacob and Katelyn Hodge and was often found cheering them on in a wrestling gym or at a rodeo. In addition to her parents, Rene was preceded in death by her daughter, Kristi; her brother, Jerry Daum; and brothers-in-law, Oscar Hall, Jackson Gallup, and Dan Sawicki; sister, Marilyn Howard; and sister-in-law, Marjorie Daum. Rene will be missed by her siblings, Beverly Hall, George Daum, Jim (Laura) Daum, and Peggy (Todd) Lund; and her sisters-in-law, Brenda (Will) Whitaker, Janet (Tres) Wiley and Sue Sawicki. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, many who refer to her as "Rad Rene". Rene enjoyed many family vacations at Lake Tahoe with them. Rene also enjoyed many great-nieces and nephews as well. Rene will be remembered for her smile, laughter, her great computer knowledge, amazing organizational skills, her love of everything pink, Latte's, slot machines, old westerns and sports; especially the San Francisco Giants. Rene was very creative and had a talent for handiwork and quilting. She made many beautiful quilts for babies of family and friends. Rene was competitive in nature and this was evident when the family gathered for an occasional card game. Rene enjoyed antique thimbles and was a member of the Bay Area Thimble Society (BATS) where she planned and hosted the thimble convention in San Francisco, CA. Rene also loved to travel and was able to enjoy many trips overseas during her retirement as well as in the states. Rene was a gem; thoughtful, smart and fun. She had a strong love for her family. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. In keeping with Rene's wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private family celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
