MILDRED J. GILREATH Kingsport - Mildred J. Gilreath, 84, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 15, 2014, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. She was born in Kingsport and lived here most of her life. Mrs. Gilreath graduated from Sullivan High School in 1948, where she was Valedictorian. She raised three children before returning to school to start her nursing career. Mrs. Gilreath retired from Indian Path Medical Center after many years of service. After retirement, she worked for several local physicians and clinics and still retained her nursing license. She was a member of Friendship Chapel Church. She loved to garden, cook and spend time with her family and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pastor Eddie Whitley. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Henry T. Gilreath; parents Clyde and Jeanette Price Neeley and a brother, Bill Neeley. Surviving are her two daughters, Patricia Austin and husband, John of Sevierville and Connie Marshall and husband, Richard of Kingsport; son, Jimmy Gilreath and wife, Helen of Kingsport; five grandchildren, Adam Thomas and wife Rachel, Tyler Koontz and wife Becca, Nathaniel Austin, Andrew Austin and Grayson Marshall; two great grandchildren Aidan Koontz and Tyson Koontz and a brother John Neeley and wife Patsy. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport. A service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Joe Hill officiating. A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 10:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 am. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Gilreath family.
