LEXINGTON—A graveside service for Mildred Estridge Self, 84, of Lexington, will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2012 in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Bishop Robert Giles, Jr. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 1-2 p.m. Monday at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Memorials may be made to Boiling Springs United Methodist Church, 2373 Calks Ferry Road, Lexington, SC 29072. Mrs. Self widow of the late William C. Self, Sr., passed away on Friday, February 17, 2012. Born in Monroe, NC, she was the daughter of the late George Washington Estridge and Lessie Jane Plyler Estridge. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her devoted family and friends. Surviving are her daughters, Norma (Elvin) Chavis, Bessie (Sammie) Finklea both of Lexington; grandchildren, Angie (Todd) Windham of Sumter, Ann (Doug) Leonard of Lexington, Jenny (Ricky) Fleming of Lexington, Pattie (Donnie) Durham of Lexington, Leslie (Andy) Hemwall of PA, Katie (Tryson) Ward of Lexington and Michele Self of Raleigh, NC; great-grandchildren, Alicia (Tim) Smith of Pelion, Amanda Lance, Ashley Windham, Cody Windham, Jessica (Josh) Lindler, Randi Roland, Taylor Fleming, Shelby (Rob) Liljigren, Holly Durham, Anna Grace Hemwall and Chloe Ward; great-great-grandchildren, Allysen and Adalyn Lindler and Zeke Smith; brothers, Lee Estridge and Boyce Estridge both of Monroe, NC and Gerald Estridge of Florida. She was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald Lynn Self and William C. Self, Jr.; sisters, Sarah "Sis" Self and Katie Estridge and two brothers, George Estridge, Jr. and Roland Estridge. Special thanks to Dr. David Perry and the nurses and staff at Intermedical Hospital of South Carolina for their compassionate care of our mother during her illness.
