Mortimer "Mort" Leavitt Mr. Leavitt, 91, of Charlotte, NC died Wednesday, March 27, 2013. A native of New York City and a lifelong Yankees fan, he was an executive with R.H. Macy for over 35 years. Mort was the beloved son of the late Saul and Sadie Gordon Leavitt and was a WW II veteran. In addition to his parents Mr. Leavitt was preceded in death by his wife of fifty one years, Eleanor. Survivors include his children, Gordon Leavitt and wife, Ellen Eagle of Glen Ridge, NJ, Sharon Leavitt and husband, Douglas Wait of Chapel Hill, NC and Robin Leavitt of Charlotte, NC and his granddaughters, Rebecca and Elizabeth Wait. Graveside service for Mr. Leavitt will be held 3:00 PM Friday, March 29, 2013, in the Hebrew Cemetery, 1801 Statesville Ave., Charlotte, NC. Shiva will be observed on Saturday evening March 30, 2013 at 7:00 PM at Temple Beth El. Memorials may be made to the Charity of the Donor's choice.
