Rhonda, Christopher, Darlene, Donald and families, How one man could accomplish, so much in his lifetime, which ended too soon, is nothing short of amazing. A man of many talents, who was only still when he was asleep. I will always remember the good times we had together. One time, I went to visit, in Oklahoma, and of course, I took my scissors! (Most of my cousins will know what that means.) More importantly, I was able to shadow him, for a day, and see him in "action"! Yes, even in surgery, where I nearly passed out, but knew I shouldn't, so I didn't! How I managed that I couldn't tell you. And, I never told him until much later! We laughed about it, as we often did when we were together. Everyone loved him. The front door, of his house, always had a smile on it, as did his face. The face of a very intelligent, accomplished, well renowned Dr of Veterinary Medicine and mentor to many. A kind hearted man, who loved his family deeply, yes, the whole bunch of us! Dr M. Joseph Bojrab, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, friend, you will surely be missed, but, most certainly, not forgotten. When you left this life, to go on to a greater one, you took a piece of my heart. May God grant you eternal rest and give you and your family peace and comfort during this difficult time. My dear cousins, My heart feels your sorrow. All my Love, Cousin Carolyn Make it a "grate" day, ; ) Carolyn B. Grate 260-750-6320 Sent from my iPad

Dear family, I am dear Joe's classmate from Vet School. I had enjoyed many meals that Joe made for us in school. We were study friends and good classmate friends.I had visited him in Vegas a few times and were treated to parties at his and Barb's home during the holidays a many years back. I loved Joe for his humor, his wisdom and his very simple way of doing difficult surgeries. He taught many of us a multitude of things. I don't know where you are Barb but my sympathies to you and to your children. I don't know if you still lived in Vegas or elsewhere but if you ever get to Granger Indiana let me know, I would love to see you after all these years. My thoughts are with all of you during this time. Carol (Van Paemel ) Ecker class of 1964

Dear Bojrab Family, My love and sympathy to all on the loss of this stellar person--so gifted, so generous with his knowledge and skill. I learned of his death from my brother, Tony Miceli, who is also a veterinarian, and I am stunned and sorrowed after learning this news. I have been hoping to reconnect with my most dear grade school friend, Darlene, whom I have not seen or spoken to for decades. Ironically, I was teaching at Oklahoma State University when Joseph was there. I am crushed I did not know. I would have conveyed a thank-you through him to all the beautiful people I met as Darlene's friend for their hospitality. Two specific instances: Darlene hosted a surprise going-away party for me at the family clubhouse when my family left the Fort Wayne area for Detroit. I was stunned, and remember (almost!) every detail of that wonderful party, and that clubhouse and their work on it made it possible. I am sure, as a young person, I was not able to convey the gratitude, joy, and friendship I felt that day. Another detail: Dinner with the family in their new home on the farm and her mother making flat bread. My only regret there is that I could not live in her kitchen for a day or two to learn how to make bread. I remember Darlene's and Joseph's parents as extremely loving and very hard-working people. I remember feeling safe and happy in their home. And while I cannot tell them in this world, I hope they had a sense of it when I was there. In making this connection, and having this opportunity to write, I am happy to be finally able to say to the loving relatives of Joseph and his parents how much I have thought of them and how highly I have held them in my esteem and appreciative heart. I wish the occasion were otherwise. And Darlene, my BFF all through grade school, I would trade a dozen smart cell phones for one 10-family party line where we could call after school and do our math problems together. I suspect your handwriting is still perfect; I can no longer read mine! In love and friendship, Mary Miceli (Ryba) Knepper

Please accept my most sincere condolences. Dr, Bojrab was a significant influence in my life. I came to work for him at Mizzou when I was a pre-vet student and worked for him at the time that he had his bypass surgery. I then went to vet school and became a surgeon and a surgical faculty member just like Joe. I have always looked upon him as a roll model in that capacity. I always hoped he would be proud of my work. He was very paternal to me as a pre-vet student and treated me very, very well always. I have always held him in the highest regard. The veterinary community has lost a true pillar of the profession. He will dearly be missed by me and many others. I pray that peace finds your family easily.

My sincere condolences extend to the Bojrab family. He was a fellow Purdue veterinary alumnus as well as a fellow educator at the Central Veterinary Conference. As of two years ago when we last taught together, I found him to be most committed to veterinary education and teaching exhaustively to those willing to learn from his many years of surgical experience. The veterinary world has surely lost a leader and he will be sorely missed.

I spent usually seven days and a average of 10 hrs a day with your father and to Donald your brother. I'm so very sorry for your lost,I cared deeply for Joe and I ended up doing everything for him. I'd like to take time and add I'm so very sorry for your loss in Sitti. She was a wonderful human being so caring thoughtful,a mom to me and a grandma to my daughter. When I fell off your fathers roof and was in the trauma center for four days,Sitti looked after my daughter she even slept with her. Joe and I talked all the time about everything .Being a single mother I became very protective of your father and brother it is how I am and Sitti asked me to. Sitti and I would take walks over to see the horses and its then she would ask me different things I loved her very much. She was very aware of the people that came to the house and wanted to know what I knew and also she told me things and would ask what I thought, she was very wise. I can remember when Joe got involved with a shady man actually there was two of them. Ido not know if any of you were aware of this because I don't remember seeing you come around at that time. The leader of the two pretended to be a Sheik and had Joe snowed. Because of my pass i had many connections in every type of work, actually have a book being published on the fifteen years of my life prior to knowing Joe.I told Joe this guy is not who he says he is, your dad would say Sandy why do you talk to him like that. And I told him he isn't a sheik they are no longer appointed by the king of Saudi Arabia and i will prove it too you. But your dad went on with this scam they had going they were bringing older couples in trying to say they were opening mines and there was gold there. Actually there use to be about three bags of dirt the second long cabinet in the garage. they were getting money from these people ,they stayed at the house while Joe supported them and whatever else they needed. This was bad, I Knew bad so i asked Joe if i called a friend of mine in Dallas who was in the oil business very good friends with the King would you talk to him and he did , the gentleman i but your father in contact with was very high up in washington at the time friends of the Bushes and just knew about everyone. He told your dad but he didn't listen and they lived off your dad for months, they finally ended up in jail. It was just one of many stories or slight of hand i saw but this is not the time for that, I guess i wanted to show you how I did my best to protect him. I was the one who took him back and forth to the airport, Iwas the one who did all the bulk mailings , and i told him his lips were turning blue before he went into the hospital when he had the stents placed in his heart. Your father was my friend. I have so many memories so many, I grieve with you, and if i had know i would of paid my respects at the time,But I just found out today. I still suffer with glass coming out of mainly my head from the fall from your roof no one thought i would live but God has his reasons for all lessons we learn while on this earth. I know your father and brother is home now no pain no worries .Every morning when i'd walk into the house he be at the computer once and a while i,d catch him in the kitchen getting coffee. There was one morning i got there which was usually around 8:30/9:00 and he wasn't at his desk i panicked i started down to his bedroom and in the hallway I could hear him snoring ! what a relief- all was right with the world. May God Bless all offs that had the pleasure of knowing DR Bojrab

Cousins, Your dad and brother being the first of (19) grandchildren in the Mose Bojrab lineage made him the birth order leader in our “cousin hierarchy”. His positive attitude, determination, hard work & perseverance fueled a continual expansion of this leadership role resulting in his very successful career and amazing life. His generous hospitality and culinary skills were as well known as his many worldwide professional accolades. His many accomplishments not withstanding, the greatest legacy he passes on & the one he’d be most proud of is the example he set for us with his concern for & care of his mother. For many years after his dad passed, my Aunt Julia would escape to Vegas to avoid our long Indiana winters. For just as many years, she would tell me how she always felt very much at home there. She never was made to feel like an imposition or intrusion on her son’s daily routine or life. He would do anything & everything to ensure she had what she needed to make her stay comfortable & enjoyable. You can be very proud of your dad/brother. Knowing he had many diverse interests & causes; my family is honored and grateful to you for designating tributes in his memory to the fund established in my sister Mary Bojrab Blazer’s name at OSU for GI cancer research. Cousin Jan

Wow, I didn’t realize, just heard. Wasn’t “close” with Dr Bojrab, but we’d cross paths from time to time. Attended a number of his lectures in the CE context over the 27 years since I graduated from vet school including, once, in an intimate setting at a Spectrum Instruments facility. (His presentation was just to me, one other vet at our clinic and a number of our support staff.) Always found his lectures lively, informative and entertaining—he was a showman in the best sense. The man had more useful and, often, surprising facts available at the tip of his brain than possibly anyone I’ve ever met. He was proud of his accomplishments, rightfully so, but was also completely accessible. Over the years I emailed him with surgery-related questions on a number of occasions. I never failed to receive a response within 24 hours. (I was, in fact, verging on asking him another when I, totally serendipitously, learned the news of his passing.) As I said, we weren’t friends per se, but I enjoyed his company immensely on those occasions we met. And, I believe, I became a better surgeon as a result. His advice was straight-forward and unadorned—I’d swear the man frowned mightily on making things harder than they needed to be. I found his advice, always freely given, useful and practical, often giving me the confidence to tackle a surgical procedure I’d considered but was hesitant about committing to. He was a good guy, affable, intelligent, informative, entertaining and approachable—I will miss him a lot. --Doug Scheule
