August 13th, 1936 - August 20th, 2023
Mrs. Myrtice Laverne Thompson Bowden, 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, August 20, 2023. A celebration of her life will be held in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at 10:00 AM. A committal service will immediately follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery where she will be entombed beside her beloved husband, Eugene Harris Bowden, Sr.. A visitation will be held Tuesday, August 22, 2023 between 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request that donations be made to the Humane Society of Houston County; 810 Carl Vinson Pkwy, Centerville, GA 31028. Laverne was born on August 13, 1936 to the late Willie and Lucille Thompson. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and dear friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Laverne was a loyal and dedicated woman who devoted her life to serving others. She took great pride in taking care of her fur babies, as well as any other stray cat around Houston county. In addition to loving animals, Laverne enjoyed traveling across the country with her friends and stopping at different places to gamble. Most importantly, Laverne enjoyed spending time with her beloved family and making southern home cooked meals for everyone. Laverne is survived by her beloved children: Eugene (Emily) Bowden, Gregory (Kimberly) Bowden, and Ginger Jackson; grandchildren: Casey Ogle, William Bowden, Stacy O-Rear, Jennifer Dykes, Ryan Bowden, Matthew Jackson, Melissa Bagley, Meghan Jackson, and Madison Jackson; 12 great grandchildren and a host of extended friends and family.
