Murray Charles Smith

Murray Charles Smith, of Sutter Creek, CA, passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the age of 82. He was born in Bakersfield, CA on April 9, 1936 to the late Ildabess (Yunker) and Emmett Smith. Murray grew up in Bakersfield, CA, completed high school in 1954, and quickly earned his Bachelor’s degree in political science from UC Santa Barbara in 1959 before making his home in Sacramento. He then retired from his State Farm insurance business and became a minister from 1973 to present. He moved to Amador County in 1981, was a Jehovah’s Witness minister for a total of 45 years. During this time he touched many lives and he will be greatly missed. Murray is survived by his three daughters, Mindy Moss, of Redwood City, CA, Valerie (Tim) Nichols, of Los Altos, CA, and Audra Smith, of Sutter Creek, CA; two sons, Russell Smith, of Murphys, CA, and Micah (Callie) Smith, of El Dorado Hills, CA; and nine grandchildren, Mitchell, Morgan, Mikey, Mason, Travis, Natalie, Riley, Gabby, and Sophiana. He is preceded in death by his sister, Patricia. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial at 3pm at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Pine Grove CA, on Oct. 6th 2018.
