Myrna Louise Henderson passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2023 in hospice at UC Health Medical Center, Greeley.

Myrna was born December 20, 1939 to Leland and Edith Schmaljohn on a farm in rural Nebraska. The Schmaljohn’s moved to Iowa where she met the love of her life Robert “Bob” Henderson of Coggon, Iowa. The couple was married on March 12, 1960. The first ten years of their marriage were spent on Bob’s family dairy farm.  Over the years, Myrna took various office jobs to help make ends meet. She worked as a legal secretary, in accounting and helped run her and Bob’s small business. The couple retired in 2000 and made Windsor, Colorado their home.

Myrna was an accomplished seamstress that enjoyed making clothing and Halloween costumes for her family. She also loved cooking for her family and was amazing in the kitchen. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, reading, jigsaw puzzles and was always up for a game of Scrabble.

She was the epitome of grace, kindness and strength. Many do not know that she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 4 years old. Very few people have been able to manage the disease for almost 81 years as she had. She was always at the forefront of treatment for the disease.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Bucks; six grandchildren: Shannon Monroe, Travis Bucks, Michael Bucks, Kandra Marlin, Ryan Henderson & Brandi Henderson nine great grandchildren: Ian Marlin, Jonas Bucks, Averie Marlin, Carson Taylor, Jaxon Bucks, Alexander Henderson, Alexander Monroe, Olivia Armstrong and Adelynn Henderson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Lonnie and Larry Schmaljohn, sister, Norma Calvert, husband Bob, and son Mark Henderson.

Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, October 11th at the Adamson Funeral Home in Greeley.
